Dental Aligner Sheets

Thermoforming is a manufacturing process where a plastic sheet is heated to a pliable forming temperature, formed to a specific shape in a mold, and trimmed to create a usable product. The sheet, or "film" when referring to thinner gauges and certain material types, is heated in an oven to a high-enough temperature that permits it to be stretched into or onto a mold and cooled to a finished shape. Its simplified version is vacuum forming.

Erkodur

Field of use:

Occlusal splints, bruxism splints, stabilization splints, orthodontic retainers, miniplast splints, dressing plates, implant guides or other moulded appliances. Also see Thermoforming technique manual and material card.

Material properties:

Erkodur is a clear transparent PET-G thermoplastic. The Material is abrasion resistant to the greatest possible extent with excellent properties concerning breaking resistance, elasticity and from stability. Erkodur belongs to the polyester group and is therefore not hygroscopic reactive (no predrying necessary ).The material is highly biocompatible.

Finishing:

Finishing set Quick 2 (110 877), high polish can be obtained with polishs for plastic. The spacer foil is taken off only after thermoforming and finishing. If adding acrylic moisten the area that has to be adjusted with a little monomer first.

Plastification:

Place the foil so that the spacer/insulating foil is facing the model. For machines without control: Test softness of foil with an instrument. If permanent impressions result, thermoform.

Erkodur-al

Erkodur-al is a foil material optimized for the production of aligners. It is a viscoelastic hard, break-resistant material with excellent dimensional stability – even under tension. Compared to the tried-and-tested Erkodur, Erkodur-al is approximately 35% softer with lower initial force and thus less feeling of tension during insertion. This not only means more comfort for the patient, the elasticity of the material also allows the effective force for correcting the misalignment of the teeth to last longer. The result is an effective but also gentle correction. The very flat force-loss curve measured in the comparison shows that Erkodur-al has a more favorable force-loss curve than most known materials. Even multilayer materials do not show a better course curve compared to Erkodur-al.

Erkoflex

Rubbery, soft-elastic thermoforming material, ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), with insulating foil for the duplication of demonstration models, fabrication of fluoride trays, medication trays, sports mouth guards, radiation protection splints, bracket transfer splints and positioners.

Erkoloc-Pro

Erkoloc-Pro Thermoforming Discs are uniquely designed to help you create the utmost in comfortable yet durable oral appliances right in your office. Compatible with the line of ERKODENT countertop thermoforming units, Erkoloc-Pro discs feature two layers of material: a soft polyurethane inner layer that’s 1.0 mm thick, and a hard, protective 3.0-mm copolyester outer layer. The interior rests comfortably in the mouth while the outer layer provides durability and bonds easily with acrylic for easy modification.

These discs are BPA-free and made from medical-grade material. They’re also ideal for fabricating bleaching or fluoride trays, aligners, retainers, occlusal splints, anti-snoring devices and more. Select from a variety of thicknesses, diameters and colors to suit a range of clinical situations.

Lisko-B/S Polishing Disc

Lisko-S

Lisko-S polishing discs are intended for use in smoothing and finishing thermoformed appliances. Lisko-S discs (blue) are specifically intended for final polishing. These discs feature a half-open stabilized structure that lasts at least four times longer than standard Lisko discs. Use at 4,000 – 10,000 rpm, with a light application of pressure. Always wear protective eyewear during use. These standalone replacement discs are identical to those that are included with the Erkodent Trimming and Polishing Kit.

Lisko-B

Lisko-B discs feature an open structure to enable cooling, and are ideally suited for grinding and smoothing flexible acrylics, silicones, or other soft materials. They are also well suited for pre-polishing metal and other materials.

Playsafe triple

Laboratory-made PlaySafe Sports Mouthguards are prescribed for both professional and amateur athletes because they offer the highest level of protection during athletic activity. When worn properly, they can prevent dental trauma, such as fractured teeth. They are also indicated for patients with an orthodontic situation, such as braces, who must wear a mouthguard for preventive measures.

PlaySafe Sports Mouthguards provide superior fit and retention compared to boil-and-bite mouthguards. Available in six levels of protection, the mouthguards range from one to three layers of laminated ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) material, with a final occlusal thickness between 3 mm and 5 mm. Indications

The PlaySafe Sports Mouthguard is made to protect the teeth from trauma. PlaySafe Sports Mouthguards can be fabricated for the upper or the lower arch.

Material Composition

The mouthguards range from one to three layers of laminated ethylvinylacetate material with a final occlusal thickness between 3 mm and 5 mm.

Playsafe triple (light)

The better protective effect of laminated sports mouthguards in comparison to single-layered mouthguards is sufficiently known. However, the fabrication of laminated sports-mouthguards is much more complex. A Playsafe triple can be fabricated in about the same time as a single-layered sports-mouthguard but provides at least the same protective effect at smaller proportions than the laminated top version Playsafe heavy-pro.

The Playsafe triple plate is already three-layered, inside and outside soft and in between hard. Thermoform once and imprint the articulation surface in a tricky way, allow to cool off and elaborate, if desired, also apply the label, finished. The surface that allows movement for the athlete automatically shows a lateral stop (buccal shield) by the imprinting. This can absorb lateral impacts. A Playsafe triple sports-mouthguard is always fabricated for the upper jaw. It covers as much as possible of the vestibule and ends palatinally about 1 mm in the gingival area.

Silensor-sl Parts Card

Snoring is generated in the area of the upper respiratory system. Caused by acceleration of the air flow when the respiratory tract is cramped (pharynx) parts of the soft tissue start to vibrate and cause the snoring noise. The apnea is a total respiratory stop. The obstructive apnea is a mechanical relocation of the respiratory tract. In case of a central apnea the central respiratory reflex fails. The hypopnea is a reduction of the air flow of more than 50%. The apnea / hypopnea index, AHI is the degree for the severity of the disease.

An apnea / hypopnea lasts at least 10 sec. To determine the index the number of apneas is divided by the hours of sleep. An index of 0 to 5 is normal, an index of 5 to 10 is a matter of a light, 10 to 20 of a median and more than 20 of a severe disease. An obstructive apnea is characterized by an interruption of the very noisy rhonchopathy. Snoring and the obstructive sleep apnea are a mechanical process that can be counteracted mechanically. Here the dental therapy comes into action.

Many studies have shown the effectiveness of mandibular advancement splints, including the very comfortable Silensor-sl. The expansion of the pharyngeal area reduces its tendency to collapse and the AHI by up to 50%. The also slowed down airflow reduces snoring by up to 80%.

Silensor-sl. The new Silensor-sl allows propulsion movement, is easy to produce, the connectors are changeable easily and a light flexing of the double-S shaped connectors improves the wearing comfort.
